Appearance

Sinju is a tall young man with a slim yet muscular build. He has bright blue hair that he pretty much always wears flipped back and secured down by two hairclips. He has orange eyes and at least one earlobe piercing. He is seen to dress quite casually when not in his work or stage attire.

Personality

Sinju is energetic, motivated and always aiming to do his very best. Whether it's on stage or at his multiple part time jobs, he is always giving it his all. He also has a competitive side and doesn't like losing to others. He can get very emotional and is sometimes hard on himself. Despite always trying his best, Sinju is acutely aware of his shortcomings as a performer and is working to improve himself. He wishes to be an idol that makes all of those watching feel as if they're in a dream.

History

Sinju comes from a poor family who live in a small house in the downtown area of Tokyo. He lives with his father, mother, grandparents and his two older brothers. He is on good terms with his family and they all support each other. Sinju sends back some of the money he earns from his various jobs to them.

Sinju was previously in training to become an idol. He was in the same agency as Yakou. However things fell through for Sinju when was about to make his debut. Sinju was told by the agency that he did not fit the unit's theme of 'Real Princes' since he and his family aren't very wealthy. Angered by this unfair ruling, Sinju decided to quit the agency altogether and left without saying a word to Yakou.

Sinju was later recruited by Rindou to join Starless, Rindou is the one that gave him his stage name. Rindou is someone Sinju greatly admires and looks up to as a role model.

Throughout his time at Old Starless, Sinju was Team P's understudy. During this time an incident occurred one night in the break room where Sinju witnessed Nekome supposedly hurting Rindou by playing him music through headphones. Sinju heard Rindou screaming in pain and rushed to call the police but by the time they got there no one was around. Because of this incident Sinju is afraid of Nekome.

In S1Ch4 'A Bird Born to Fly in the Sky' a versus was held between Sinju and Maica to decide who would be Team P's new number 2. This position was previously held by Mizuki before he left Team P. Maica ultimately wins the position after a close result. During this event Yakou appears at Starless, expressing his interest to join. Sinju is shocked by this since he has not seen Yakou since their days in the idol agency together. The two of them fight at first and are seemingly on bad terms, since Yakou was not aware of the circumstances that lead to Sinju leaving the agency. Once Sinju explains his reasons, Yakou is more understanding. The two of them continue to have a rivalry in later stories.

In current day Sinju is no longer understudy and has even had solo singer and centre positions in performances. His aim is to catch up to Rindou and maybe even surpass him one day.

Trivia

• Sinju first decided he wanted to be an idol when he saw some performing on tv one day while he was at a friend's house. He loved the way they made the whole audience smile and before he knew it he wanted to be like that too.
• Sinju is always on the hunt for sales or good deals. He regularly uses discount coupons and flyers.
• Sinju loves to eat and isn't picky. He especially loves gyudon and is always excited to try new foods.
• Sinju's mother works at a delicatessen, her meat and potato croquettes are very popular. His father's a scaffolding constructor, Sinju used to like visiting the sites he worked at when he was younger.
• Sinju has said that both of his brothers are also aiming to achieve their own dreams, though it is not specified what they are aiming for.
• Sinju's eldest brother is apparently good at table tennis, and always wins when they play as a family. He lent Sinju a bat to play with when Team P went on an onsen trip.
• When Sinju was younger he would often play around in the neighbourhood river, he prefers rivers to the ocean. He is able to catch fish with his bare hands since he used to do it a lot when he was little.
• Sinju has little to no experience with love and struggled a lot with his first White Day role.
• Sinju often goes jogging in the morning.
• Performing at a large venue has always been a dream of Sinju's and it's one that came true when he got to perform in the first Black Live
• Sinju's stage name (真珠 lit; shinju) means 'Pearl' in Japanese.
